| Harmony Applications Exceeded 15K! |
|
The applications to Harmony Public Schools for the 2012-2013 School Year have been started and it has already exceeded 15 thousand threshold! On the day we started accepting the applications (January 10), we received almost four thousand applications in 24 hours.The application deadline is March 15, 2012.

Monday: Students will be talking about bullying and some statistics. Wear red, white and blue for "United we stand, divided we fall."
Tuesday: Grades 6-8 will fill out a student survey about bullying and the results will be displayed at the end of the week. Wear two different shoes for "Walk a mile in someone else's shoes."
Wednesday: Students will see how words can hurt and you can't take them back. Wear a cap to school to "Put a cap on name-calling."
Thursday: Students will discuss cyber bullying and ways that they can prevent or stop it. Wear your uniform backwards because "You can't take your words back."
Friday: We will have a teambuilding activity to remind students that we are all on the same team. Wear your favorite sports team shirt with jeans because "We are all on the same team."
We will also be having a door decorating contest for the homerooms. The class that wins will receive a pizza party.

Harmony Public Schools – Austin Proclamation: Harmony Public Schools in Austin were honored by the City of Austin and Mayor, Lee Leffingwell last night at the January 12th City Council Meeting. Mayor Leffingwell announced a Proclamation declaring Harmony Public Schools Week to be January 13 – 20, 2012. Clearly all the hard work and dedication that each and every student, staff, teacher, administrator and parent has put into making our schools successful has paid off. Re-Enrollment Form for 2012-2013 Dear Parent(s); Thank you for your support in Harmony Science Academy- Austin. Due to limited space for the upcoming year, we ask each parent/guardian to fill out the attached form completely and return it to the front office. This form is designed for currently enrolled students. The closing date for this application is January 27, 2012. Applications received unsigned, incomplete, or after the closing date may not be considered for next year.
Please do not send the form with the child.

| Digital Storytelling Contest (DISTCO 2012) |

DISTCO 2012 is part of a series of “Digital Storytelling Contests". DISTCO 2012 is an online contest where Students and Teachers in K-12 are invited to submit their original digital stories between November 28, 2011 and January 27, 2012. please check our website at distco.org for complete timeline and rules. The project has certain benefits for both students and teacher. It is a way of exposing and challenging the students in a competition where they can show their certain skills in multimedia, technology, researching, writing and creativity.
