Christina Rice received the 1st place in the category of Cellular and Molecular Biology and she also won Discovery Education’s Young Scientist Grand Award.

Justyn Fitz received the 3rd place in the category of Computer Science.

Zahra Parkar received American Meteorogical Society & Atmospheric Science special award.

Our middle school students did an amazing job on UIL competition last month. They got 16 awards . 3 first places, 2 second places, 5 third places, 4 fourth places and 1 sixth place. Congratulation to all of our students who participated and their teachers.

Paige Stumbough, Lazaro Sanchez and Karen Barbour attended the Visual Arts Scholastic Event on February 16th. They each entered a linoleum block print. The were required to meet with a judge to discuss their artwork and get one of the following ratings:
Rating IV – Superior
Rating III – Excellent
Rating II – Average
Rating I – Below Average

Paige and Karen both received a IV and Lazaro Received III.

Great Success in Austin Regional Science Fair

Harmony Science Academy won 27 total awards in Austin Regional Science Fair. 7 of our students will represent Austin

in the Texas State Science fair. This is a GREAT success. We congratulate all of our students, parents and teachers who contributed in the Science Fair. [ Awards ] [ Photos ]


State Science and Engineering Fair was a Big Success

 

I SWEEEP 2008

The future of our planet is the focus of an international competition taking place in Texas.

The Cosmos Foundation organized an event called the ISWEEEP. The competition is aimed at increasing the awareness in next generation's young minds of sustainability issues we are facing today. Thus, this competition is geared to junior and senior high school students in grades 6 thru 12 across the globe.

550 young researchers from 58 countries around the world and 42 states in the United States participated in the event this year.

Our students received the following awards:
1 Silver Medal ($300 money award) Sonny Cabrera
2 Bronze medal ($200 money awards) Justyn Fitz, Christina Rice
9 Special Awards

Regional Typing Contest among Harmony Schools

Austin Regional Typing Contest was held among Harmony Schools at Harmony Elementary Austin. There were 3 categories in the competition. Individual free typing, individual proper typing and team typing. Our team members were Christina Rice from 8A, Ahmad Akid from 7A and Anthony Nguyen from 6A.

At the end of competition;
HSA- Austin team got first place in Team typing ,
Christina Rice got 3rd place in individual free typing.


City WideTurkish Olympiads

Last Saturday, we had the 1st Austin City Wide Turkish Olympiads at UT. Student prepared songs, poems, talent show and folk dance. Their performance was fabulous. Distinguished judges have selected school wide winners as well as city wide winners.

1st Place: Hong Bui ( 1st Place in City Wide)(Advanced to State Wide)
2nd Place: Michelle Hill ( 2nd Place in City Wide) (Advanced to State Wide)
3rd Place: An Lai ( 3rd Place in City Wide)

POEM RECITING CONTEST:
1st Place: Muhammad Danish ( 1st Place in City Wide) (Advanced to State Wide)
2nd Place: Pablo Lujan

State wide Turkish Olympiads is on Saturday April 5th, 2008 at

6 medals at Statewide Turkish Olympiads

Statewide Turkish Olympiads was held in Houston and our students brought home the following awards:

Harmony Schools Soccer Turnoment

HSA Austin middle school soccer team won the championship in the soccer tournament among Harmony schools. The boys did an amazing job. They won all the games they played. After beating teams from San Antonio and College station they played the playoff games against Harmony Dallas and Houston teams. Our team beat both teams with the scores 4-2 and 7-1 respectively. Each player got a medal and 30 dollars money award.

Our high school soccer team played against HSA Houston and beat them with the score of 8-3. HSA Austin high school soccer team also won the first place in the high school division.

Congratulations to all of our soccer players, YOU ROCK...
